ABOUT STETHO STEPS
The Stetho Steps project is a global, mission-driven initiative that partners with students, educators, institutions, and communities to transform how health professionals are trained and supported—across all disciplines and all contexts.
Vision
A world where health professions education is responsive, equitable, and aligned with the needs of learners, educators, and the communities they serve.
Mission
To expand access to practical, expert-reviewed tools and resources that enhance teaching, learning, and institutional capacity in health professions education, especially in resource-limited settings.
Approach
The Stetho Steps project is informed by the Education for Life model, comprising three parts.
(Frenk et al., 2022, Lancet)

1
LEARNING THROUGHOUT LIFE
We promote lifelong learning by creating accessible, expert-reviewed tools and experiences that support health professionals in developing new competencies across career stages—from student to senior practitioner.
2
LEARNING TO PROMOTE AND RESTORE HEALTHY LIVES
Our resources and initiatives are grounded in service and social accountability, helping learners and educators acquire the skills and attitudes needed to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals, families, and communities.
3
LEARNING TO LIVE ONE'S OWN LIFE
We embed principles of personal wellbeing and professional resilience to empower health professionals to care for themselves, advocate for fairer work environments, and contribute to equitable, sustainable health systems.
